8. Traveling to a Country Independently

Traveling to a Country Independently:

For next step, have students choose a country they would like to research. Follow the same format used to teach about the United States and Pakistan.

As students learn about a country, they will begin summarizing their information using the passport page (Figure 1c). They will create presentations based on data they gathered about the country. (See Pakistan example, Figure 2 and also see http://thelotteryoflife.wordpress.com/). They can also create a travel blog or journal and/or digital scrapbook to explain findings. Students should record their opinion about the country’s differences/similarities on their travel blog or journal.

  • Traveling in someone else’s shoes, how would you feel if you lived in this country?
  • Traveling in someone else’s shoes, how would your life be different?
  • How would your life be the same?
  • Now that you know more about the people of this country, would you want to be from this country? Why or why not?
